Background: The 17-year-old Swedish tennis player, Bjorn Borg, snatched victory from the jews of defeat against Britain's Mark Cox in the final of the Rothmen's Indoor Tennis Championship at London's Albert Hall on Saturday (23 February).

Cox took the first set 7-6 after a tiebreaker and with a 5-3 lead in the second set he wont to 40-love in the ninth game, but Bjorg fought back brilliantly from what seemed like certain defeat to win the second set with a tie-breaker and then won the final set 6-4.

Borg took the first prize of 4500 pounds sterling (10,350 U.S. dollars) while Cox, who was also runner up last year, took the second prize of GBP 2500 (5850 U.S. dollars).

The pattern of the game was fixed in the first set. Cox, playing neatly and efficiently went ahead but in the tenth game Borg saved five set pointe and in the end Cox only won 7-6 with the tie-breaker. In the second set Cox took a 5-3 lead and, with a 40-love lead in the next game, it seemed he must take the match. But Borg's play found a new urgency and brilliance and he eventually won 7-6 again through a tie-breaker. Borg, who is thirteen years younger than Cox, then took the final set 6-4.
