A Somali delegation led by Foreign Minister Omer Arteh Ghaleb, is in Kuwait to further development of common interests. The delegation has visited Kuwaiti Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Information, Finance and Oil, and also the Ministry of the Interior.
It has been agreed that the trade ties between the two countries will be strengthened and a Somali Trade Delegation will visit Kuwait in the near future.
SYNOPSIS: In Kuwait, a visiting Somali Delegation held talks with official at the Ministry of Finance and Oil on Monday.
The visiting Delegation was met by the Kuwaiti Minister of Finance and Oil, Mr. Al-Atiqi. They discussed matters relating to common development in their countries. This was the fist visit by a Somali Delegation to Kuwait, but others have been planned for the near future.
Mr. Al-Atiqi discussed development with the leader of the Somali Delegation, Omer Arteh Ghaleb, Somali's Foreign Minister. The leaders later agreed to form trade delegations for further talks in the near future. Kuwait buys Somali bananas, but other imports may be arranged.
Later in the day, the Somali Delegation called on Mr. Al-Farhan, Kuwait's Minister of Awkaf and Moslem Affairs. Mr. Al-Farhan later talked about cultural relations between the two countries.
Somali Foreign Minister Mr. Ghaleb has recently returned from a visit to Italy, where he discussed economic relations with Government officials. He is expected to visit more Middle East countries after Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
