    THE WEST INDIES SUMMIT CONFERENCE YESTERDAY (WEDNESDAY) EXPRESSED CONCERN AT WHAT IT CALLED THE SLOW PACE OF INTEGRATION OF WEST INDIAN MIGRANTS INTO THE UNITED KINGDOM COMMUNITY. THE CONFERENCE WAS TOLD THAT JAMAICA HAD SENT AN OFFICIAL MISSION TO LONDON A FEW WEEKS AGO TO INVESTIGATE CONDITIONS AMONG MIGRANTS.

    THE CONFERENCE, CURRENTLY BEING HELD IN KINGSTON, JAMAICA, 18 THE SECOND MEETING OF HEADS OF COMMONWEALTH COUNTRIES IN THE CARIBBEAN.

    FIRST SPEECH WAS MADE BY THE PREMIER OF BRITISH GUIANA, DR. CHEDDI JAGAN, WHO CLAIMED THAT "COLD WAR CONSIDERATIONS" HAD PREVENTED HIS COUNTRY FROM GAINING INDEPENDENCE. HE ALSO CALLED ON THE GOVERNMENTS OF THE WEST INDIES TO "STAND UP AND BE COUNTED" ON INTERNATIONAL ISSUES AND TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST "THE NEW TYPE OF COLONIALISM BEING PROPAGATED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD BY FORCE AND FRAUD".

    THE FOUR-DAY CONFERENCE, DUE TO END TOMORROW (FRIDAY), WAS OPENED BY JAMAICA'S PRIME MINISTER, SIR ALEXANDER BUSTAMANTE. LEADERS ARE DISCUSSING FOREIGN POLICIES, AGRICULTURAL TRADE, DEVELOPMENTAL PLANS AND MUTUAL AID IN TIME OF DISASTER, SUCH AS HURRICANES.
