    DELEGATES OF FOUR CENTRAL AFRICAN COUNTRIES MET IN YAOUNDE, CAMEROUN, ON THURSDAY (4 SEPTEMBER) FOR THE START OF A SERIES OF CONFERENCES OF REGIONAL POSTAL AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS ADMINISTRATIONS.

    THE FOUR COUNTRIES ARE CAMEROUN, GABON, THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC, AND EQUATORIAL GUINEA. GABON AND CAMEROUN ARE REPRESENTED AT THE CONFERENCES BY THEIR MINISTERS OF POSTS AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS, WHILE THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC AND EQUATORIAL GUINEA ARE REPRESENTED BY THEIR COUNTRIES' POST-OFFICE DIRECTORS.

    THE FIRST MEETING WAS PRESIDED OVER BY THE CAMEROUNIAN MINISTER OF POSTS AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS, MR. FONLON, WHO GREETED THE OTHER DELEGATES ON THEIR ARRIVAL AT THE CONFERENCE HALL.

    THE CONFERENCE IS DISCUSSING THE POSSIBILITY OF SETTING UP A CENTRAL AFRICAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK, AND HOW BEST TO USE THE SATELLITE-TRACKING STATION THAT WILL BE IN OPERATION IN YAOUNDE IN 1971.
