The U.S. Black Panther movement, better known for its violent attacks on racial discrimination, also?

  • Description

The U.S. Black Panther movement, better known for its violent attacks on racial discrimination, also carries out humanitarian work. In the New York slums of Brooklyn, the movement has recently opened a new free health clinic.

The Black Panthers are an organisation of young militant black men and women, wit about 2,500 members scattered among 5 or 30 American cities. The Panthers goals include complete abolition of racial discrimination in the United States and an end to what they call self-hatred among blacks, engendered by 300 years of slavery, segregation and second-class citizenship.

In the slums of Brooklyn, New York members of the Black Panther movement have gone further to prove their aim at bettering the black mans destiny. Not only is the movement providing free food for poor black families and their children, but they now provide a free medical service.

The health clinic has been set up in the Black Panther movement building in the Brooklyn slums and already scores of black people are taking advantage of the free service.

Surrounded by posters picturing Black Panther leaders and slogans reading "Long Live the People's Revolution" the black citizens of Brooklyn are now receiving the medical attention they might otherwise have not been able to afford or obtain.
