Background: The whole of the fashion world was brought to the feet of 35-year-old French designer Marc Bohan January 26 following the showing of his brilliant first collection for the House of Dior in Paris.
There were scenes of mass hysteria in the salon as crowds of women rushed forward to kiss and congratulate Bohan - even the Duchess of Windsor got caught in the crush.
Completely in keeping with the late Christian Dior's trend-setting shows, it was judged to be the best since the "master" died three years ago.
Bohan - successor to Yves St. Laurent - presented over 200 designs. The main outline was simple and uncluttered, with a low, bloused waist, short flared skirt and flat hips.
