As the Spring and Summer fashion war starts there's a French invasion of London. Sponsored?
As the Spring and Summer fashion war starts there's a French invasion of London. Sponsored by the French Hosiery and Knitwear industry, fifteen manufacturers exhibited their wares.
There were over 60 models on show. First came a suit in merino wool. Underneath it in matching tones of violet, a cotton jersey sweater.
Then came a contrast - a suit in Prince of Wales fleck. The cloth is wool jersey, but man-made fibres are included in this French effort to improve trade with Britain.
St. Tropez was the name for a swim-suit in fluorescent tones - but it would look well on any beach.
Next, for the younger generation, a cardigan-blazer in warm red, over slacks, with a bib-top.
This show ended with Tortoiseshell tights - just the thing for the 'Beat' generation.
