Background: Several of the school walls were plastered with revolutionary posters. High school pupils were handing out leaflets calling for a change in the existing educational syllabus. This was called for equal opportunities for all races to reach secondary education level and especially for more places for blacks in the University of Luanda. After school each day, the students meet in the school hall to discuss revolutionary tactics and how to bring about changes in the school system.
