    IN THE CAR RACE, IT WAS THE THIRD SUCCESSIVE VICTORY FOR LAWRENCE WHO WAS DRIVING A BRABHAM. THE 29-YEAR-OLD NEW ZEALANDER SHOT INTO THE LEAD DURING THE FIRST OF THE 40 LAPS.

    DESPITE A 49-SECOND PIT STOP, HE COMPLETELY OUTCLASSED THE FORMULA ONE FIELD OVER THE TWISTING, THREE MILE SEMBAWANG CIRCUIT TO WIN AN AVERAGE SPEED OF 87.41 MILES AN HOUR.

    HE FINISHED 21 SECONDS AHEAD OF AUSTRALIAN JOHN WALKER IN AN ELFIN WITH ANOTHER AUSTRALIAN, BOB MUIR, IN A MILDREN WAGGOT THIRD.

    THE MOTOR-CYCLING GRAND PRIX WAS RUN OVER 40 LAPS. ANOTHER NEW ZEALANDER, TREVOR DISCOMBE, LED FOR THE FIRST HALF OF THE RACE UNTIL HE WAS FORCED OUT WHEN YAMAHA DEVELOPED ENGINE TROUBLE.

    FROM THEN ON, PERRY, ABOARD A SUZUKI, SET THE PACE IN THE EVENT WHICH HAD NO LIMIT ON ENGINE CAPACITY. HE WON FROM TWO SINGAPOREANS, DERRY LOOI AND SONNY LOH, BOTH OF WHOM RODE YAMAHAS.
