    HE DESCRIBED MR. MACMILLAN'S DECISION TO RESIGN AS A "HEAVY BLOW", ADDING BUT WE INTEND TO CARRY ON THE GOVERNMENT OF THE COUNTRY ACCORDING TO THE SAME HIGH STANDARD WHICH THE PRIME MINISTER HAS MAINTAINED."

    DURING THE CONFERENCE, A HECKLER WAS ESCORTED FROM THE HALL BY PARTY USHERS.HE WAS REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN A MEMBER OF THE LEAGUE OF EMPIRE LOYALISTS, A MOVEMENT DEDICATED TO THE PRESERVATION OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE.

    WHEN MR. BUTLER FINISHED HIS 40-MINUTE SPEECH, HE RECEIVED A SUSTAINED STANDING OVATION (SOF).
