    AN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE ISSUED ABOUT THE MEETING DENIED ??? THAT THE MEETING HAD BEEN CALLED TO CONSIDER THE CONTINUED DEFIANCE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BY EASTERN NIGERIA. IT ADDED THAT THE MEETING HAD BEEN ATTENDED BY ALL MEMBERS OF THE FEDERAL MILITARY COUNCIL EXCEPT THE EASTERN NIGERIA LEADER, LIEUTENANT-COLONEL ODUMEGWU OJUKWU. LIEUTENANT-COLONEL OJUKWU IS SEEKING THE COMPLETE AUTONOMY OF ALL FOUR NIGERIAN REGIONS WITHIN A LOOSE CONFEDERATION WHILE OTHER LEADERS ARE PRESSING FOR A STRONGER CENTRAL GOVERNMENT.

    THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS HEADED BY LIEUTENANT-COLONEL ??? THE COMMUNIQUE SAID THAT REGIONAL. MILITARY GOVERNORS WOULD BE HAVING "ROUTINE CONSULTATIONS" WITH HIM.

    ON THE SAME DAY, AT A PASSING-OUT PARADE OF 100 NON-COMMISSION NAVAL RATINGS, COMMODORE WEY TOLD THE MEN THAT THEY WOULD BE REQUIRED TO GO IMMEDIATELY ON "NATIONAL ASSIGNMENT."
