    THE NEW ZEALAND PRIME MINISTER, MR. KEITH HOLYOAKE, ON APRIL 23 INSPECTED A NEW ZEALAND BATTALION AT JUNGLE CAMP NEAR THE MALAYSIAN-THAI BORDER.

    ON ARRIVAL, HE WAS MET BY COLONEL L.A. KERMODE, COMMANDER OF NEW ZEALAND ARMED FORCES IN SINGAPORE AND LIEUTENANT-COLONEL R.M. GURR, COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE NEW ZEALAND BATTALION ON THE BORDER.

    PREMIER KIETH HOLYOAKE SPENT THREE HOURS INSPECTING THE CAMP BEFORE FLYING TO A JUNGLE FORT WHERE A COMPANY OF NEW ZEALAND SOLDIERS ARE CARRYING OUT ANTI-INSURGENT OPERATIONS ON THE BORDER WITH MALAYSIAN SECURITY FORCES.

    THE PRIME MINISTER WAS BRIEFED ON BORDER OPERATIONS.

    AFTER INSPECTING A GUARD OF HONOUR, PREMIER KEITH HOLYOAKE DELIVERED A SHORT SPEECH TO THE TROOPS.

    MR. KEITH HOLYOAKE WAS ACCOMPANIED BY MR. R.H. WADE, NEW ZEALAND HIGH COMMISSIONER AND A MALAYSIAN POLICE OFFICER, MR. J.G. RITCHIE.
