    HELEN McMURRAY DE KAY, WHO DIED IN MAY LAST YEAR AT THE AGE OF 82, WAS INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN AS A COLLECTOR OF FINE PAINTINGS, JEWELLERY AND ORIENTAL ART.

    THE RUSSIAN CROWN, WHICH CONTAINS MORE THAN 1,500 DIAMONDS, IS PURPORTED TO HAVE BEEN MADE FROM THE JEWELLERY OF CATHERINE II (CATHERINE THE GREAT). THE DE KAY COLLECTION ALSO INCLUDES A 22-CART PEAR-SHAPED DIAMOND RING, AND ONE OF THE FINEST PRIVATELY OWNED GROUPS OF CARVED JADES AND CORALS.

    AMONG THE ITEMS TO BE AUCTIONED ARE SAPPHIRES, EMERALDS, DIAMONDS AND BROOCHES IN THE FORMS OF ANIMALS, BIRDS AND FLOWERS.
