    INDIA'S OPPOSITION PARTIES YESTERDAY (WEDNESDAY) MARSHALLED TOGETHER ABOUT 10,000 SUPPORTERS IN NEW DELHI IN DEMONSTRATIONS CALLING FOR THE RESIGNATION OF THE PRIME MINISTER, MR. NEHRU. THEY ACCUSED HIM OF "CORRUPTION", "NEPOTISM" AND "INEFFICIENCY".

    THE ANTI-NEHRU CROWD CARRIED BANNERS PROTESTING ABOUT THE HIGH FOOD PRICES, HIGH TAXES AND THE COMPULSORY SAVINGS SCHEME. AT THE MAIN GATE OF THE INDIAN PARLIAMENT THEY SET UP THE CHANT: "QUIT, NEHRU, QUIT."
    THE ORGANISERS OF THE DEMONSTRATIONS SAID THE MOVE TO OUST MR. NEHRU WAS MADE PRIMARILY ON THE GROUNDS THAT HIS "LONG DRAWN, WEAK AND VACILLATING LEADERSHIP" HAD HUMILIATED INDIA AROUND THE WORLD.

    THE "RESIGN" CALL CAME O N THE SAME DAY AND IN THE CAME CITY THAT MR. NEHRU WAS INSPECTING A PARADE OF 14,000 NEW DELHI YOUTHS CALLED UP FOR COMPULSORY MILITARY TRAINING. SIMILAR PARADES WERE BEING HELD IN OTHER INDIAN CITIES. OVER A MILLION YOUNG INDIAN STUDENTS ARE NOW IN UNIFORM.

    IN HIS ADDRESS TO THE CADETS, THE INDIAN PRIME MINISTER TOLD THEM THEY MUST SHOULDER THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR DEFENDING INDIA'S FRONTIERS. HE SAID THEIR BORDER DISPUTE WITH CHINA HAD FORCED UPON THEM A STATE OF PREPAREDNESS.
