    AFRICAN ART WAS ON DISPLAY IN AN EXHIBITION IN NAIROBI WHICH OPENED ON WEDNESDAY (DECEMBER 3).

    THE EXHIBITION WAS ATTENDED BY THE PERMANENT SECRETARY TO THE MINISTER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY, MR. J. KIBE, AND MISS MARGARET KENYATTA, DEPUTY MAYOR OF NAIROBI AND DAUGHTER OF THE KENYAN PRESIDENT.

    THE THEME OF THE EXHIBITION IS "FAHARI YA KENYA" -- PRIDE OF KENYA.

    GALLERY AFRICA PRESENTED THE PAINTINGS AND SCULPTURES AND OVER 25 ARTISTS MADE WORK AVAILABLE TO THE DISPLAY.

    THE GALLERY AIMS TO PROMOTE AND ENCOURAGE AFRICAN ART AND HOPES TO EXCHANGE EXHIBITIONS WITH OTHER PARTS ON THE WORLD SO THAT THE WORK OF AFRICAN ARTISTS CAN BECOME WIDELY KNOWN.

    AMONG THE ARTISTS EXHIBITING WERE MISS B. VADGAMA, 22-YEAR OLD JOHN KAHATO, AND GEORGE KAMON, WHO IS 19 YEARS OLD. HE WAS PRESENT WITH HIS TEACHER MRS. BATUL NADIADI.

    ALSO ON DISPLAY WERE EXAMPLES OF AFRICAN INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS. MR. KIBE CALLED ON KENYAN MANUFACTURERS TO ADVERTISE THEIR PRODUCTS EXTENSIVELY SO THAT THE ORDINARY CONSUMER IS AWARE OF THE PRODUCTS KENYA HAS TO OFFER.
