SYNOPSIS: The conference, in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, began last week on Wednesday (9 May). It was organised jointly by the OAU and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and attended by transport and communications ministers from the continent. The Secretary General of Ethiopia's ruling military council, Capital Fikre Selassie Wogderess opened the conference... which discussed plans for expanding land, air sea and communications links over the next ten years. The delegates head Captain Wogderess talk of the importance of communications to Africa...further emphasised in a speech from kenya's Transport Minister, Daniel Mutinda.
