  • Description

Frederick Grunwald, managing director of several companies involved in the British financial 'Jasper affair', was interviewed at London Airport, UK, after flying in from Israel, Oct. 6. Mr. Grunwald went to the Middle East when the Jasper group of companies first found itself in difficulties.

At the airport he said, "I have come back to clear my name. I welcome the (police) inquiry into the affairs of the Harry Jasper companies. I will give my assistance to Mr. Neville Faulks (the Board of Trade inspector who was to have flown to Grunwald in Israel this week)".

Mr. Grunwald accused unnamed associates of 'letting him down' and precipitating much of the present difficulties.

Of a three-and-a-quarter million pound loan to him by the State Building Society, Mr. Grunwald explained "I am sure they (State shareholders) will not be the losers."
Asked whether he was reluctant to return to Britain this Mayfair solicitor replied, "I was not reluctant. I took a return ticket when I left for Israel three weeks ago."
Mr. Grunwald said that he had invested all his own resources in his take-over bid for a property company - including his wife's last GBP50,000.

Frederick Grunwald was forced to leave Israel when the Government revoked his tourist permit.
