    CADETS FROM MANY AFRICAN COUNTRIES TODAY (THURSDAY) TOOK PART IN THE SOVEREIGN'S PARADE AT THE ROYAL MILITARY ACADEMY AT SANDHURST, ENGLAND. SOME 219 CADETS WERE COMMISSIONED IN THE CEREMONY.

    IN ALL, THERE WERE 17 CADETS FROM AFRICAN COUNTRIES. THREE CAME FROM ZAMBIA, THREE FROM UGANDA, SIX FROM TANZANIA, THREE FROM GHANA AND TWO FROM THE CONGO.

    THE DEPARTING CADETS LINED UP FOR THE LAST TIME BEFORE RECEIVING THEIR COMMISSIONS. THE COLOURS WERE ESCORTED PAST THEM, AND THEY WERE THE FIST TO MARCH PAST THIS YEAR'S REVIEWING OFFICER, ADMIRAL SIR VARYL BEGG, CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF AND FIRST SEA LORD.

    THE SWORD OF HONOUR WAS PRESENTED THIS YEAR TO SENIOR OFFICER CADET A.M. MITCHELL, AS THE MOST PROMISING SENIOR CADET OF HIS TERM.

    THE SENIOR OFFICER CADETS TAKING PART IN TODAY'S PARADE ENTERED SANHURST MILITARY ACADEMY IN JANUARY, 1966.
