    KAUNDA: "COMRADES AND COUNTRYMEN, THE NEW ECONOMIC POLICY, THEREFORE, THE NEW ECONOMIC EFFORTS, THE NEW ECONOMIC MEASURES, ARE DESIGNED TO MAKE ZAMBIANS MASTERS OF THEIR OWN SHIP. (APPLAUSE) ZAMBIA TODAY HAS SAID: WE HAVE STOPPED FLOATING. WE WANT TO DIRECT OUR OWN SHIP, REGARDLESS OF WHERE THE MAJOR WIND IS BLOWING. (APPLAUSE) LET US EDUCATE OUR PEOPLE, LET US TRAIN OUR PEOPLE TO REALISE THAT THE FACT THAT WE ARE GETTING ECONOMIC CONTROL DOES NOT MEAN EASY JOBS FOR EACH ONE OF US AT ALL. WE HAVE GOT TO LEARN, TO RISE FROM A HUMBLE POSITION BY HARD WORK, LOVE, SACRIFICE AND EVERYTHING ELSE THAT IS NOBLE. (APPLAUSE)."
