    AT LEAST 11 PEOPLE HAVE DIED IN THE WORST MONSOON FLOODS FOR 30 YEARS IN SINGAPORE AND THE NEIGHBOURING MALAYSIAN STATE OF JOHORE. TODAY, THE RAIN STOPPED, AND THE WATER -- UP TO SEVEN FEET (JUST OVER TWO METRES) DEEP IN PLACES BEGAN TO DRAIN AWAY.

    IN SINGAPORE, A RECORD 14 INCHES (35.5 CMS) OF RAIN FELL IN 10 HOURS, AND WIDESPREAD FLOODING CAUSED THREE DEATHS. BRITISH GURKHA TROOPS HAVE FOUND ANOTHER EIGHT BODIES IN NEIGHBOURING JOHORE.

    SOME 2,500 PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO EVACUATE THEIR HOMES BEFORE THE RAGING FLOODWATER.
