    A TWIN-ENGINED TANZANIAN AIR FORCE TRAINING AIRCRAFT YESTERDAY CRASHED ON TO THE SELANDER BRIDGE IN DAR ES SALAAM, KILLING A CANADIAN FLYING INSTRUCTOR AND TWO TANZANIAN PILOTS. THE PIPER APACHE AIRCRAFT SPIRALLED DOWN ON TO THE BRIDGE, LINKING THE CITY CENTRE WITH THE OUTLYING SUBURBS, NARROWLY MISSING CROWDED BUILDINGS AT EITHER END.

    A GOVERNMENT SPOKESMAN SAID THAT THE TANZANIANS WERE ON A TRAINING FLIGHT DURING A CONVERSION COURSE FROM SINGLE-ENGINED AIRCRAFT.

    THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE HAS BEEN TRAINING TANZANIANS FOR FIVE YEARS BUT IS DUE TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY AT END OF THIS YEAR.
