Background: In Zimbabwe, President Canaan Banana, fulfilled one of his ambitions when he refereed a junior football match in Harare on March 2. President Banana, who recently qualified as a referee with the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA), tossed the coin to decide who would kick off, and signalled for play to commence between the teams from the Presidential Guard and the State House Staff. Before refereeing, the President was a keen player in his youth, and he still turns out as centre forward for the State House Tornadoes - a team he founded. The team is now in the 2A Division League of the northern league, and witty officials from State House have dubbed the team, the President's Men. Prime Minister Robert Mugabe was said to be quietly amused by the football team.
