    BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY GEORGE BROWN ANNOUNCED IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS THIS AFTERNOON (TUESDAY) THAT NEGOTIATIONS FOR THE HAND-OVER IN ADEN WOULD BEGIN ON NOVEMBER 20 IN GENEVA. MR. BROWN SAID THAT THE BRITISH DELEGATION WOULD BE HEADED BY LORD SHACKLETON, A HIGH-RANKING FOREIGN OFFICE OFFICIAL WHO HAS PREVIOUSLY NEGOTIATED WITH THE RIVAL FACTIONS IN SOUTH ARABIA, AND ALSO SAID THAT BRITISH FORCES WOULD BE OUT OF ADEN BY THE END OF THIS MONTH.

    YESTERDAY (MONDAY) FINAL PREPARATIONS FOR THE HAND-OVER INCLUDED A VISIT TO BRITISH POSITIONS BY A PARTY OF ARAB OFFICERS - ALL LOYAL TO THE NATIONAL LIBERATION FRONT (NLF) - HEADED BY COLONEL MOHAMMED AHMED AL AULAQUI, COMMANDER-DESIGNATE OF THE SOUTH ARABIAN ARMY. WITHIN A FEW DAYS, COLONEL AHMED AL AULAQUI IS EXPECTED TO TAKE OVER FROM THE BRITISH COMMANDER, BRIGADIER DYE.

    THE ARAB OFFICERS HAD A BUFFET LUNCH WITH OFFICERS OF THE ARGYLL AND SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS IN CRATER AND ALSO VISITED THE NEW BRITISH EMBASSY WHERE THEY WERE GREETED BY ADMIRAL SIR MICHAEL LEFANU.
