THE LEADING COMPETITOR, AFTER THREE DAYS OF JUMPING, WAS BJORN WIRKOLA, OF NORWAY. FRANZ KELLER OF WEST GERMANY WAS SECOND WITH LICHTENEGGER OF AUSTRIA WAS LYING THIRD.

    SEVENTY-SEVEN TOP-CLASS SKI-JUMPERS ARE TAKING PART IN THE CHAMPIONSHIPS, WHICH END TOMORROW (SUNDAY) WITH THE FOURTH AND FINAL DAY BEING HELD AT BISCHOFSHOFEN, AUSTRIA.

    THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE THIRD DAY WAS THE OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE OF WIRKOLA, WHO SOARED DISTANCES OF 90 AND 93 METRES WITH HIS TWO JUMPS. HE ENDED THE DAY WITH A CHAMPIONSHIP TOTAL OF 237.7 POINTS.

    KELLER, ON HIS FIRST JUMP OF THE DAY, MADE 91 METRES, BUT COULD ONLY MANAGE 88 METRES WITH HIS SECOND. HE ENDED WITH 228.3 POINTS.

    LICHTENEGGER'S TWO JUMPS OF 91 AND 90 METRES PUT HIM IN THIRD PLACE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIPS, CLOSE BEHIND KELLER WITH A TOTAL OF 223.2 POINTS.
