AFTER ANOTHER FOUR HOURS SESSION ON SEPTEMBER 30 - THE THIRD IN TEN DAYS - MR. RUSK WAS ABLE TO REPORT TO LORD HOME, THE BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY, DEFINITE SIGNS THAT THE RUSSIANS WERE MODIFYING THEIR ATTITUDE. LORD HOME, WHO WAS HIMSELF HAD TWO MEETINGS WITH MR. GROMYKO, HAD POSTPONED HIS DEPARTURE FOR LONDON SPECIALLY TO HEAR THE RESULTS OF MR. RUSK'S THIRD MEETING.

    THE SOVIET DIPLOMAT HAD A WORD WITH NEWSMEN ON HIS WAY TO THE FINAL MEETING WITH MR. RUSK IN THE WALDORF ASTORIA HOTEL
    AFTER HIS MEETING WITH MR. RUSK, MR. GROMYKO RETURNED TO THE RUSSIAN EMBASSY WHERE HE AGAIN FOUND NEWSMEN WAITING FOR HIM.
