    MR MOHAMMED AHMED MAHGOUB, THE SUDANESE PRIME MINISTER, ADDRESSED AFRICA'S 'COMMITTEE OF NINE' IN DAR-ES-SALAAM YESTERDAY (MONDAY) BEFORE LEAVING TANZANIA FOR A VISIT TO KENYA. MR MAHGOUB, ON HIS FIRST OFFICIAL TRIP ABROAD SINCE BECOMING PREMIER LAST MONTH, HAS ALREADY VISITED ETHIOPIA.

    THE COMMITTEE OF NINE WAS FORMED AT THE ADDIS ABABA 'SUMMIT' CONFERENCE IN 1963 AND IS AIMED AT COORDINATING THE INDEPENDENCE MOVEMENT IN AFRICA. THE MEMBERS ARE: ALGERIA, NIGERIA, ETHIOPIA, THE UNITED ARAB REPUBLIC, UGANDA, TANGANYIKA, THE CONGO REPUBLIC, GUINEA AND SENEGAL.

    (ON ARRIVAL IN KENYA YESTERDAY, MR MAHGOUB SAID THE PROBLEM OF THE SOUTHERN SUDAN WAS AN INTERNAL ONE AND HE DID NOT WELCOME ATTEMPTS AT MEDIATION BY OUTSIDE ORGANISATIONS. HE SAID HIS TOUR OF EAST AFRICA IS AIMED AT PROMOTING UNITY AMONG AFRICAN NATIONS. )
