    Background: Da Nang Air Base in South Vietnam conducts water survival training classes at China Beach. Training includes a lecture on how to use survival kit contents, a swim to a raft, release from parachute while being dragged along the ground, uprighting of one-man raft, a swim with life preserver unit inflated, and helicopter water pick up.

    The Water Survival Training Classes at China Beach near Da Nang Air Base, Vietnam, are a highly effective tri-service effort.

    The training includes use of survival gear, parachute drags, swimming and boarding rafts, and helicopter water pick ups.

    The water survival training program was developed jointly by local U. S. Air Force, Navy and Marine Units. The training in organized, sponsored and conducted by 366th Tactical Fighter Wing Life Support Personnel Classes are held every two weeks and the training value has increased with each succeeding class.
