    Background: The Bangladesh leader Shiekh Mujibur Rahman on Tuesday (18 Jan) met some of the top civilian officials of the former East Pakistan Government, amid growing demand for their trial for alleged war crimes. Among those he saw were former Chief Secretary of East Pakistan, Mr Muzzafar Hussain, and the Inspector-General of Police Mr Chowdhary.

    The talks were held at the Dacca garrison on the outskirts of the city, where the Indian army is holding the former officials prisoner.
