Background: In La Guardia (province of Galicia), a great number of wild horses which roam freely in this district, are gathered together for the traditional marking.

Horses and ponies are separated for inspection and shearing.

After having been chased and reduced under the control of the leaders, the males are kept and put apart for said.

The mares are set free till next year when the animals are again recounted.

Visitors from different points of Galicia and people from the surrounding towns attend this operation and see how the horses are set free.
