Background: Lebanese troops are taking no chances in their efforts to stop the infiltration of palestinian commandos south of the border of the two countries. On Monday (14 May), they intensified their border patrols and stopped every vehicle that passed through.
Nobody misses a through questioning, and every vehicle is searched. Patrols are under orders to keep a special eye out for explosives.
Late last week when the fighting in Beirut was at its height, Palestinian reinforcements streamed into lebanon from Syrian border points. At the moment, the Lebanese forces say they have the border situation controlled, but the state of emergency in Lebanon, now more than a week old, shows no sign of ending.
