SYNOPSIS: Norwegian and Ghanaian flags flew outside the Ghana Nautical College at Nugua last week to signify the signing of a bi-lateral agreement between the two countries. Since 1969, Norway has provided the College with technical assistance and tutors to train navigation and marine engineers for Ghana's fishing fleet. So far, more than one hundred and fifty Ghanaian students have passed through the college and are now serving at sea.

At the Ministry of Communications in Accra, an agreement extending the countries' present co-operation to 1974 was signed. Norwegian Ambassador Mr. Peter Motzfeldt signed on behalf of his Government while Major Anthony Selormey signed for Ghana.

Major Selormey, Ghana's Commissioner of Transport and Communications, thanked the Government of Norway for its assistance in the development of Ghana. He said that the agreement strengthened the bond of friendship between the two countries.

Mr. Motsfeldt replied, assuring Ghana's National Redemption Council of Norway's continued co-operation. So far Norwegian grants for equipment and the running of their Training Centre at the Nautical College amounts to almost half a million pounds.
