Background: A large party of Ghana Embassy staff were at London Airport today (Saturday) to greet the Chairman of Ghana's governing National Liberation Council, Lieutenant-General J. A. Ankrah, in Britain's capital on the first stage of a series of state visits.
Lieutenant-General Ankrah is travelling with a retinue of government officials, and of course his wife, Mrs. Mildred Ankrah. The N. L. C. Chairman is not in fact paying a state visit to England on this occasion - he will be moving on almost immediately to Canada and the United States.
The Ghanaian dignitaries have a busy schedule ahead of them. They arrive in Canada on Monday (October 2), where, among other engagements, they will attend the Ghana National Day at Montreal's World Fair 'Expo 67'. This is on October 4.
General Ankrah is due to arrive in Washington on October 9 - there to be joined by Mr. E. N. Omaboe, Commissioner for Economic Affairs, and Mr. Victor Owu???, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. Talks will follow with both President Johnson and United Nations Secretary-General U Thant.
The Chairman and his party are expected to return home to Ghana on October 22.
