    MORE THAN 1,500 DELEGATES, INCLUDING 600 VISITORS FROM OVERSEAS, ARE IN LONDON THIS WEEK FOR THE FOURTH INTERNATIONAL MINING CONGRESS WHICH OPENED TODAY (MONDAY). MORE THAN 40 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES ARE REPRESENTED AT THE CONGRESS WHICH HAS BEEN SPONSORED BY BRITAIN'S NATIONAL COAL BOARD.

    MORE THAN 42 DIFFERENT PAPERS ARE TO BE PRESENTED DURING THE CONGRESS. SUBJECTS TO BE DISCUSSED DURING THE WORKING SESSIONS COVER PRODUCTION METHODS, MINE PLANNING AND LAYOUT, RESEARCH AND FUTURE DEVELOPMENT, TRANSPORTATION, AND THE PLACE OF FUEL IN THE NATIONAL ECONOMY. A WIDE RANGE OF INTERNATIONAL VIEWS ARE EXPECTED.

    AMONG THE DELEGATES AT THE OPENING SESSION WERE REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE SOVIET UNION, SPAIN, LUXEMBOURG, FRANCE, U.S.A., JAPAN, WEST GERMANY, POLAND, CZECHOSLOVAKIA AND ITALY.
