Background: Soviet and American spacemen were presented with medals at the opening session of the 63rd World Aeronautics conference in New Delhi yesterday (Sunday).
Among those to receive awards were American moon-walkers Charles Conrad and Neil Armstrong and the crews of the Soviet Soyua craft which performed the first manned space link-up, Vladimir Shatalov, Boris Volinov, Alexei Yeliseyev and Yevgeny Khurnov.
The conference was opened by the Indian President, Mr. Giri. He said that man's conquest of space had proved his limitless power to solve any problem.
Some 100 delegates from 29 countries are attending the conference. The last was held in Helsinki, Finland.
