  • Description

The Pembroke Stakes - first international show-jumping event at the Dublin Horse Show - were won by Britain at Ball's Bridge August 4.

Mrs. Wofford, formerly Miss Dawn Palethorpe, on her American-bred 'Hollandia' was the only one of 29 competitors to complete three clear rounds of the circuit of eleven fly fences.

Her husband Werren Wofford - the only American rider - was soon eliminated when 'Pat's Sister' refused, and when he incurred sixteen faults on 'Balliden' later.

Mr. Grayston of South Africa on 'Captain Bligh' was second with eight faults, and Lieutenant Griffin on 'Ballymonty' riding for Ireland, was third with twelve.

There are nearly 1,100 entries for this five-day show of the Royal Society.
