    MR. JOMO KENYATTA, THE KENYA PRIME MINISTER, YESTERDAY (FRIDAY) OPENED A NEW NURSES' TRAINING SCHOOL AND HOME IN NAIROBI. THE BUILDING ADJOINS THE AGA KHAN PLATINUM JUBILEE HOSPITAL.

    THE AGA, WHO IS MAKING A SHORT VISIT TO EAST AFRICA TO SEE MEMBERS OF THE ISMAILI (INDIAN) COMMUNITY, WAS PRESENT. ALSO THERE WERE LEADING GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS, INCLUDING MR. TOM MBOYA, THE JUSTICE MINISTER.

    UNTIL RECENTLY, THE HOSPITAL WAS THE ONLY ONE IN KENYA WHICH ADMITTED PEOPLE OF ALL RACES.

    IN HIS SPEECH, MR. KENYATTA CALLED FOR MORE GIRLS -- OF ALL RACES -- TO TAKE UP THE NURSING PROFESSION. AT PRESENT THE RATIO OF NURSES TO THE POPULATION IS ABOUT ONE 8,000. MR. KENYATTA VISUALISED KENYA'S NEXT STEP IN MEDICAL PROGRESS WOULD BE A MEDICAL SCHOOL, WHICH HE HOPED COULD BE ESTABLISHED BY 1968.
