Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Kamal Hossain arrived unexpectedly in New Delhi on Saturday evening (9 March) for talks on the future of the 195 Pakistani prisoners of war sought by Bangladesh on war-crimes charges, but still held by India.
At the airport Dr. Hossain said Pakistan should apologise "In the Name of the Almighty" for its mass killings of Bengalis in 1971.
But Dr. Hossain added that Bengalis knew how to forgive and forget.
He also told reporters that the forthcoming tripartite meeting of Bangladesh, Indian and Pakistani Foreign Ministers in New Delhi on 5 April would carry the countries a step towards normalising relations.
The Ministers will discuss the future of the 195 prisoners of war.
Dr. Hossain had discussions with the Indian Foreign Minister, Swaran Singh, before traveling on to Kuwait and Abu Dhabi for oil talks.
