  • Description

Bald-pated idol of the younger generation, Yul Brynner rides again.

Joining Brynner on location in Almeria, Spain (100-miles East of Malaga on the Costa de La Luz) are Israeli actress Daliah Lavi, Jo Ann Phlug (of MASH fame), Richard Crenna and Leonard Nimoy.

For Sam Wanamaker, who has directed Brynner in Taras Bulba and the File of the Golden Goose, it is his third western. The others, pilots for television, were Lancer and Custer.

SYNOPSIS: In the unspoiled wilderness around Almeria on the Costa de La Lus in Spain, an American production company has come to film a full length feature called Catlow.

The men an horses move through areas which resemble the way things were in the American Southwest during that period just after the Civil War in the 1860s.

The conditions are difficult. But the camera crews continue to follow the action across natural and man-made hazards. All at the direction of one man, Sam Wanamaker the American director working on his third western.

Wanamaker's job has been made easier for his star is the new hero of the younger set, Yul Brynner. Known as a gentleman on and off the set, Brynner has worked in two other films with Wanamaker--Taras Bulba and The File of the Golden Goose.

Wanamaker pays closest attention to detail and has been compared favourably with some of the great Italian Directors. The backgrounds of Almeria are impressive but also in the foreground Wanamaker is blessed with the lovely Jo Ann Pflug who played Lt. Dish in MASH.

Although the Brynner and Pflug team assure success at the box office, the ending for these two is not together. But in true Western fashion they both wind up with their just rewards. Jo Ann with her love and Brynner with his freedom and a horse.
