    A senior Syrian Government Minister has given details of the damage inflicted by Israeli bombing raids over Syria. Mohammed Haidar, the Deputy Premier for Economic Affairs told a press conference on Saturday (20th October), that hundreds of workers and to her civilians had been killed in the attacks and the nation's industrial and power sectors had been disrupted.

    The Deputy Premier claimed that Israeli attacks on oil installations had contributed to the fuel crisis in Europe. He said that oil exports from the pipeline terminal at Banias and at Tartous had been halted. And he estimated that economic targets and vital installations worth over GBP 100 million (1,000 million syrian pounds) have been damaged. The bombing damage to oil installations he estimated at GBP 36 million ($90 million).

    Mr. Heidar was speaking in Arabic.

    On Saturday, the Syrian Deputy Premier Mohammed Haidar told newsmen of the damage the Israelis had inflicted.
