Background: The World Boxing Council's Middleweight champion Rodrigo Valdes is in Franc to defend his title against Max Cohen of France. The fight will take place in Grenbole on April 12.

Valdes retained his title by knocking out Gratien Tonna while Cohen won the right to challenge with a knock-out against Jean Claude Bouttier. The two boxers are known throughout the boxing world as strong punchers and the title fight promises to be a hard affair.

Valdes arrived in Paris from New York last week where he had been training for a month. He went to a gymnasium in Neuilly where he worked out with the Peurto Rican boxer Nelson Lasalle.

Valdes looked in excellent condition.
