    GENERAL PREM SINGH GYANI, THE INDIAN COMMANDER OF THE U.N. FORCE, WAS AT THE DOCKSIDE TO WELCOME THE MEN. THE CARRIER BROUGHT ABOUT 100 MEN AND 54 VEHICLES. FILM SHOWS THE MEN LEAVING THE SHIP AND UNLOADING THEIR EQUIPMENT.

    MEANWHILE A CYPRUS GOVERNMENT SPOKESMAN HAS ADMITTED THAT GOVERNMENT SECURITY FORCES HAD FIRED BY MISTAKE ON BRITISH TROOPS EARLIER IN THE DAY AT HALEFKA, 15 MILES (24 KILOMETRES) NORTH-EAST OF NICOSIA.

    THE SPOKESMAN SAID INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT SECURITY FORCES MISTOOK THE PATROL FOR "TURKISH TERRORISTS" AND FIRED ON THEM. HE ADDED THAT U.N. TROOPS HAD ACCEPTED IT AS A "BONA FIDE CASE OF MISUNDERSTANDING."
