Bayern Munich remained top of West Germany's Bundesliga football league after drawing 2-2 at home with Stuttgart on April 7. Bayern have 38 points, as have Borussia Moenchengladbach, but with a better goal average. Stuttgart are in third place. Wolfgang Grobe opened the scoring for Bayern (in red) after 15 minutes with a neat chip over the keeper. Two minutes later, a flick by bayern defender Soeren Lerby into his own goal levelled the score with Stuttgart's Forster getting the credit. In the 48th minute , Bayern went ahead again, from a Grobe penalty after a teammate was held in the box by the Stuttgart keeper. Asgier Sigurvinsson again equalised for the visitors in the 67th minute.

In Zaragoza, the home team lost 1-0 to Barcelona, playing in red and blue shirts. Carrasco struck the winning penalty after a player was fouled in the box by the keeper to put his team third in the league.

Feyenoord soundly beat Roda J.C. Kerkrade 5-2 in Rotterdam to go two points clear of PSV Eindhoven at the top of the table on 46 points. Feyenoord scored first with a Gullit shot, only for Roda's Danish international, Jon Eriksen, to equalise. The home side went ahead again with a Houtman header, which Roda's Guthrie annulled with a header. Danish international, Ivan Nielson, put Feyenoord ahead again with another header, with Hoekstra stretching the lead to 4-2, before Nielson scored his second.
