    PRESIDENT KAUNDA MADE A 24-HOUR VISIT TO TANZANIA, TO CONFER WITH PRESIDENT JULIUS NYERERE.

    PRESIDENT KAUNDA VISITED TANZANIA SEVEN WEEKS AGO TO DISCUSS THE PROPOSED RAILWAY LINK WITH ZAMBIA, AND TODAY'S MEETING WITH PRESIDENT NYERERE TOOK THE QUESTION A STAGE FURTHER.

    ANSWERING REPORTERS QUESTIONS PRIOR TO HIS DEPARTURE, PRESIDENT KAUNDA SAID DISCUSSIONS HAD CENTRED ON FUTURE STEPS IN THE TANZANIA-ZAMBIA RAILWAY PROJECT, TO TURN IT INTO SOMETHING MORE PRACTICAL.

    ASKED IF ANY MAJOR DECISIONS WERE TAKEN, PRESIDENT KAUNDA REPLIED: "THE NEXT WEEK OF SO SHOULD SEE ONE OR TWO INTERESTING DIFFERENT PROJECTS RELATING TO DEVELOPMENT."
    OTHER FIGURES AT THE AIRPORT TO GREET THE PRESIDENT WERE THE CHINESE AMBASSADOR TO TANZANIA, MR. HO YING, AND TANZANIA'S ONLY EUROPEAN MINISTER, MR. DEREK BRYCESON.

    PRESIDENT KAUNDA LEFT LATER FOR KENYA, WHERE HE WAS TO OPEN THE NAIROBI SHOW DURING A TWO-DAY STATE VISIT.
