    CALGARY'S COLOURFUL MAYOR DON MACKAY GREETED THE ROYAL VISITORS AS THEY STEPPED DOWN FROM THE RCAF COMET JETLINER WHICH TOOK THEM FROM FORT WILLIAM. THE CITIES POPULATION HAD RISEN FROM ABOUT TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY THOUSAND TO AN ESTIMATED FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND PEOPLES. HER MAJESTY AND PRINCE PHILIP WERE SERENADED BY A MALE CHORUS MADE UP OF BARBER SHOP QUARTERS, BY A PIPE BAND, AND BY A CHILDREN'S CHOIR. THEY VISITED THE MODERN JUBILEE. AUDITORIUM, TOOK A QUICK TOUR OF THE CITY, AND VISITED A LARGE BAND OF INDIANS. INSTEAD OF THE USUAL RED CARPET THERE WAS SPREAD BUFFALO SKINS. AFTER THE INDIAN VILLAGE THE ROYAL PARTY PAYED A VISITED TO THE STAMPEDE GROUNDS FOR THE TRADITIONAL AND VERY EXCITING CHUCKWAGON RACE. A BARBECUE BODED THE DAY'S ACTIVITIES -- A DAY FULL OF COWBOYS INDIANS AND WESTERN HOSPITALITY.
