  • Description

The Air France airbus hijacked by pro-Palestinian guerrillas last month returned to France from Uganda on Thursday (22 July).

SYNOPSIS: Uganda's President Idi Amin announced on Wednesday that he was returning the plane to France and a French crew was flown to Entebbe airport to collect it. The plane was hijacked on a flight to Paris from Greece and, with 250 people on board, it was flown to Uganda. An Israeli raid on the airport later rescued about 100 hostages. The rest had already been freed. The United Nations Security Council debated the raid, but failed to agree on any formal action over it, after four days of bitter debate.

The plane was hit by bullet fire at Entebbe airport but the pilot who brought it back to France said the damage is not serious.
