    Methods of strengthening solidarity and peace among Arab people were discussed at meeting in Baghdad between Arab Baa'th Party and peace council members at the weekend.

    The Regional Deputy Secretary General of the Baa'th Party, Mr. Saddam Hussein, was greeting senior peace council officials attending an international oil seminar in Baghdad.

    His chief guest was the Secretary-General of the World Peace Council, Mr. Romesh Chandra, of Finland. The World Council co-operated with the National Council for Peace and Solidarity in iraq and the Afro-Asian solidarity Organisations in organising the seminar.

    Mr. Hussein also met Mr. Naeem Haddad, a member of the regional leadership of the Baa'th Party; the Secretary-General of the Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organisation, Mr. Yousif Al-Sebaie; and member of the Public Affairs office of the Iraq Revolutionary Command Council, Mr. Tariq Aziz.

    During the meeting, nation-wide activities of the various peace and solidarity organisations were reviewed.

    Mr. Saddam thanked his visitors for their part in the oil seminar, which was organised to discuss oil as a weapon against imperialism and aggression and as a means of independent economic development.

    SYNOPSIS: In Baghdad, Arab Baa'th Party regional Deputy Secretary General Saddam Hussein, meets World Peace Council Secretary General Romesh Chandra, of Finland, for informal talks. Mr. Chandra was in Baghdad with other delegates for an international oil seminar, organised by the National Council for Peace and Solidarity in Iraq, with the co-operation of the World Peace Council and the Afro-Asian solidarity Organisations.

    Mr. Saddam discussed with Mr. Chandra ways of consolidating the struggle towards peace. He also thanked other delegates for participating in the seminar, which was aimed at discussing oil as a weapon against imperialism and aggression, and as a means of independent economic development. Groups represented at the seminar ranged from the Palestine Liberation Organisation, to Western European Communist parties.

    Nation-wide activities of the various peace and solidarity organisations were reviewed at a further meeting between Mr. Hussein and Secretary-General Yousif Al-Sebaie, of the Afro-Asian people's Solidarity Organisation, with Naeem Haddad, a member of the Baa'th Party leadership, and Tariq Aziz, or the Public Affairs office of the Revolutionary Command Council in Iraq. The seminar attracted representatives from all Arab countries, the Soviet Union, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, Britain, France, Sweden, India, Argentina, Yugoslavia, Italy, Belgium and Mongolia.
