  • Description

AMERICAN NEGRO "BLACK POWER" ADVOCATE STOKELY CARMICHAEL ARRIVED IN HANOI, NORTH VIETNAM, RECENTLY TO ATTEND A DAY OF ASIAN-AFRICAN SOLIDARITY AND TO ADDRESS A RALLY IN THE NORTH VIETNAMESE CAPITAL.

IN A SPEECH HE MADE TO THE RALLY, CARMICHAEL SAID THAT THE STRUGGLE OF THE AMERICAN NEGRO AND THE STRUGGLE OF THE NORTH VIETNAMESE PEOPLE WERE IDENTICAL. BOTH HAD TO CONVINCE THE U.S. GOVERNMENT OF THEIR HUMAN RIGHTS. HE SAID THAT BOTH GROUPS WERE REVOLUTIONARIES WHO DEMANDED THE CHANGE OF U.S. IMPERIALISTIC SYSTEMS.

IN AN INTERVIEW WHICH CARMICHAEL GAVE TO THE JAPANESE CAMERAMAN WHO SHOT THIS FILM, THE NEGRO LEADER SAID HE HAD VISITED MANY BOMBED AREAS IN HANOI AND SEEN FOR HIMSELF THE COURAGE AND FORTITUDE OF THE NORTH VIETNAMESE PEOPLE.
