    Background: As climax of the Vienna Carnival Season, the traditional Opera Ball took place tonight.

    Prominent guests from all parts of the globe attended the Ball Federal President Dr. Adolf Scharf and Federal Chancellor Ing. Julius Raab and members of the Austrian Federal state department were presented also the Diplomatic Corps of Vienna.

    After the opening waltz, danced by the Vienna State Opera Ballet the Opera Ball 1959 started with a brilliant polonaise.
