In his place the organisers of the exhibition plan to recruit a team of 250 smartly dressed, attractive young woman who will act as hostesses to the huge crowd who are expected to pour into the exhibition grounds.
But before they can take their place on the exhibition staff, the gifts have to take an intensive course in the many aspects of their future work.
Language classes are an essential and every girl must be able to speak French and English together with her native tongue and Flemish - many of the girls have mastered five or six languages.
From language classes to general studies in which the girls improve their knowledge of the arts, psychology, politics and literature.
Next come long and intensive tours through the exhibition grounds so that all the girls are familiar with the complete layout of the massive pavilions and can find any requested building by the quickest possible route. They also go out into the capital city to study the layers of Brussels in case they have to take organised parties out on a general tour.
A hostess must know every possible detail about each of the 50 pavilions that make up the exhibition - even down to details at their construction.
In addition to the general studies of their four-month course, the girls must also take part in twice-mostly gymnastic classes, regular first-aid classes, and make-up sessions when experts guide them on the ideal cosmetics to suit their individual personality.
When the exhibition opens, the girls will have their own pavilion where visitors will be able to check on almost any point of information about the display.
