    The South African Information Minister, Mr. Connie Mulder, who is visiting the Ivory Coast, confirmed on Monday (22 March) that South African troops would withdraw for Angola provided certain conditions were met.

    Mr. Mulder, who arrived in the Ivory Coast capital, Abidjan, on Sunday (21 March), reiterated Prime Minister John Vorster's statement that the troops would be withdrawn by 27 March under those conditions.

    He referred to assurances received by South Africa on the security of property and people at Calueque and Ruacana in southern Angola, sites of work on a dam and hydro-electric installations.

    Mr. Mulder had two hours of talks with Ivory Coast President Mr. Felix Houphouet-Boigny at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan.

    His visit was in response to a visit to South Africa in September last year by his Ivory Coast counterpart, Mr. Laurent Dona-Fologo.

    Mr. Mulder presented President Houphouet-Boigny with a film about the Ivory Coast which had been produced by South African Television.
